Inner War Poem

Inner War

Surrounded by constant worry.
Becoming alone or to be judged.
What will happen today?
I wonder, thoughts racing
Like a missile headed toward a destination,
And then it hits me.
We are all alone in this world,
We always will be.
A constant battle against anxiety.
Why can’t things go back,
To what they used to be?
When will this war end
So I can have my peace of mind
Given back to me.

At First i began going up to strangers and asking if they would like to read my poem and then I would snag a photo of them. After a while i realized that what i was doing was inefficient, so decided to change it up and place my poem around campus. hoping that i would reach more people, i placed my poem in highly visible areas that had a lot of traffic.
I believe I reached approximately thirty to forty people around Vancouver.

The school bells ringing
Our sea above
Whitecaps sail gently

PHYSICAL OR SEDENTARY?

I believe that I am a person that fits into the Physical section, as I am always yearning to do some physical work when I found myself in sedentary situations. Much like what Kate Braid described in her composition "A Plea for the Physical" I learned to love physical labor through an experience I had in my younger years. Many people in today's society are too enclosed in their bubble and are scared to even touch a stranger for a half a second. Our society needs to connect with nature more and experience the life of our previous ancestors that once lived only a few hundred years ago. I choose to live the physical way of life because I know its the healthier, more balanced lifestyle that also helps me connect with the world and in a way bond with nature.
